Aurum Remarquable (otherwise known as Hewey) was remarkable indeed, having survived against the odds as a tiny, six week premature foal. With extremely careful upbringing he grew into a fine, strong and beautiful stallion. You can read his story right here. Because of his premature birth, Hewey was not very tall. This is entirely due to his premature birth plus the manner and timeframe in which a horse's growth plates close. If he had been born at normal term, he would certainly have grown to 16.3hh+. Genetically however he was a full sized horse!

He was as many have commented quite a strikingly handsome horse, with a fine, beautiful deep chestnut coat, a lovely even star and two neat white hind-socks. He was also perfectly conformed (amazing, considering his early life challenges) with good strong bone and well developed musculature.

Hewey was started and training under saddle. His training progressed well; he learned quickly and showed quality movement.

His grandsire Rubinstein was one of the world's leading sires of Dressage Grand Prix horses. Rubinstein is no longer with us of course and due to the poor quality of his frozen semen it is almost impossible for anyone to breed directly with him. Interestingly, Remarquable's sire Regardez Moi has produced a number of good jumping horses, in spite of being Royally bred as a dressage sire.

Remarquable was out of our 3* eventing mare Tidal Wave who was a sensationally bold cross country horse as well as a seriously talented showjumper. Unfortunately an injury forced her to retirement as a broodmare. We have been fortunate to breed a number of excellent fillies and colts from her to carry on her line.

Her line, specifically is very strong for jumping as she is by the famous Flooding who was a producer of outstanding showjumping and eventing horses including two time Olympic representative Another Flood, and 4* eventer Let it Rain. The Flooding line also contributes excellent movement in our experience. Aurum stands a very good moving Flooding son Aurum Flash Flood.

This combination of an outstanding proven jumping dam and the strong dressage lines from his sire made Remarquable a prime candidate to breed first class eventing horses.

Sadly we lost Aurum Remarquable in late 2008. He left his first and only crop of foals which are testament to his fantastic genetics.

Progeny from Hewey.
